* What are the compatible mounts on the Canon EOS 300D?
The following list of mounts are compatible with the 300D:
- EF: classic EOS mount. Available from Canon, Sigma, Tamron,...
- EF-S: APS compact DSLR mount designed for the 300D and 20D.
* I dug out a Canon FD lens from my backyard.
* I see a lot of Canon FD lenses on eBay.
* Can I mount it on the Canon 300D?
You can't directly mount a FD lens on a Canon EOS body. All the Canon EOS bodies use the EF mount. (or derivative EF-S) Adapters are possible if you are really desperate but it's not worth it.
* I would like to buy a new lens What are my best options?
I really depends on your needs. But the following lenses are popular:
- Canon 50 f/1.8 inexpensive prime lens.
- Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Zoom Macro Super II.
* I heard that E-TTL II uses the distance data returned by the lens. Which lenses return the distance data?
Basically most of the lenses that feature a ring USM return the distance data to the camera body.
The full list of compatible lenses can be found here. (Canon EOS Flash FAQ)
* Where can I find lenses reviews?
